IEE study of Daram Khola Hydroelectric Project, Baglung
Introduction
Narrative description of the Project: Daram Khola Hydropower Project (2.5MW) lies in Hila and Argal VDC of Baglung district. This is a run-off-river scheme, with the design discharge 3.6 m3/s and 91.34 m gross head that will generate 2.5 MW of electric energy. The project consists of headworks with a weir across the river to divert flow, headrace with penstock pipe as a water conveyance system, and surface powerhouse on the left bank of Daram Khola.
The project site is located about 35 km i.e. 20 km gravel and 15 km earthen road to be upgraded from Baglung bazaar to Ghusmeli village. The weir site of Project is located in Hila and Argal VDC and powerhouse is located in Argal VDC.
Description of Actual Service Provided: Preparation of Terms of Reference (ToR) and Report on Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) study, which includes: (a) Preparation and approval of ToR for IEE study of 2.5 MW Hydroelectric Project in Baglung, (b) baseline data collection of biophysical, socio-economic as well as cultural environment, (c) public consultation, (d) Preparation of draft and final IEE report of entire projects, (e) incorporation of comments and approval of the report from the concerned government line agencies (Ministry of Energy).
